Finishing Touches For My Home Network

Dear Forum Members

After many months of planning and buying the necessary equipment I am now ready to add the final device to complete my home network.

The main items I required, mentioned in my previous posts (shown below), I now have.
Quote:

1) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/chat-o...tml#post373525 Turning my TV into a Smart TV with a Now TV set-top box.

2) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/chat-o...tml#post370563 Adding a Network Attached Server, i.e. NetGear ReadyNAS Duo V2
However, I now require a device that will allow me to watch all my videos, stored on my NAS unit, on my TV without the need for transcoding, i.e. the need to convert the video files from one form to another.

At the moment I am using Plex software (both server and app), installed on my NAS unit and on my Now TV box, to watch some of the films on my TV but, unfortunately, most of the films I have require transcoding, which my my NAS unit does not support.

Hence, the need for a new (and final) device.

Any clarification questions or suggestions will be gratefully received.

Finished My Finishing Network Touches

Dear Forum Members

After more months of agonising, I have finally hit on the solution to stream videos to my TV without the need for transcoding (converting videos "on the fly" from one format to another before playing them).

The simple solution was to download some file conversation software and convert my non-playable files into playable ones.

Now I can play both videos and music straight from my NAS via my Now TV box to my TV.

My simple solution reminded me that in the computer world there is always more than one way to solve a problem.
