I get a message from quicktime saying 'quicktime has quit, bla bla bla
What is going on and is there something I need to download to get the movies to play?
I am os x

whats your operating system?

It would help a lot if you could tell us whether you're using windows, mac or linux!!! Do we have to guess? Try this: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) It has in-built codecs & plays everything except the odd wmv file.

Nothing works

Thanks guys

My operating system is max os x (G5 mac)

Sorry should have said...

I have downloaded vlc thanks and if I drag the download into vlc on the dock it works!
but I only get a little picture and if I open to full screen it is very fuzzy and bad quality. Is there anything else i can do now to get better picture on full screen?
I cant see the point watching a movie on tiny little screen, can you help here or is this the end result?

Yeah command (apple key) 2 or 3 for full screen. If you want a decent sized movie then aim for the large ones not the small piffy ones. Decent quality movies are cd size or there-abouts. Really you should be ignoring the wmv files. The ones with the decent quality are the avi & mpg/mpeg movies. wmv has too much rubbish & too many ones with scam licencing requirements that are a mask for getting you to connect to the net to steal your isp address for diallers or marketing spam. People make money doing that so don't let them. Personally I filter out wmv.
