New and could use Help

Hey There,
I am new here and totally new to file sharing and internet music etc.... I bought the program from www.mymusicinc.com. Hope that was a wise choice? I paid $34, and not sure if I even have the PRO service, which sounds nice? Any clues how to find out?

What I really want to do is burn cds so I can get some bass going on (not happening on my little speakers).

When I signed up they talked about free cd burning software ect.. I have never burned a cd in my life. I know I have at least a cd player on my computer. Do I need anything else?! If so what? If not what next please!?

Also not sure what the difference with the songs labeled mp3 are? Will I be able to burn those to a cd too? I am using windows media player.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

ok - first of all you got ripped BIG TIME . if you payed 34$ for file sharing software that claims to be "100% free and legal unlimated music and movies " you should cancel the payment on ur card because the site that sold it to you sold you a crock of shi*. limewire is the best filesharing program iv ever used and its 100% free ,and the pro vershon is onley 20$ . there are lots of sites trying to scam people into buying software that is free ,and you fell for it. dont feel bad tho it happens to alot of people ,i got tricked into buying a load of crap back in the days of kazaa when i was a novince myself .just cancel the payment if u can . i looked at the link you put in and its definantley a scam .beware of internet scams ,there EVERYWHERE! . also downloading music and movies is ilegal ...about as ilegal as jaywalking or littering but still ilegal . so the site that sold you that crap is making a false claim by saying "free unlimated music and movies" . but so many people do it that verry few get cought . but still its at ur own risk. so just get limewire and use it . ok now ,CD burning: if you have windows media player you can burn cds if u got windows xp ,if you bought your pc in the last 3 years you moast likley have windows xp and a cd burner . i use media player 10 wich you can use to burn cds -not shur about other vershions. u can get windows media player10 from microsoft.com for free. yes you can burn mp3s to a cd , but mp3 is a lossy sound format , what that means is that mp3s are compressed to get the file size so small and thus mp3s dont sound as good as the origanal cd ...but its close. if you want TRUE cd quality go for .WAV , .flac or .aiff music files. but wav and flac ect will take longer to download ( this wont be a problem for you if you have cable or dsl) mp3s are ok as long as the bitrate is at least 192 kbps (if i cant find a .wav vershon of the song i want i try to get an mp3 that has a bitrate of 256 or 320 kbps) tell me more about your computer and i can help more , tell me the stuff like what operating system and what kind of internet conection you have ect.

Thanks

Ok you guys totally ROCK.

That is great to know about the burning, I was thinking I had to go get a cd burner installed. I do have a cd player and I got the puter less then a year ago ~ so that means I probable have a burner there too? This computer was custom built ~ simply, so I hope they added that too. I currently have windows media player, real player v10, and quick time. I use a cable connection, and run windows xp.
Gosh THANKS!!!

BTW what is the pro cd all about?
And any advice about downloading movies? My husband tried with Oceans Twelve, and after some weird stuff we got one going on that had a really bad picture ~ I don't know the details of what he did though.

Yeah before I got your replies I realized I had been totally taken (again..I am really dumb by the way...so I went and cancelled my check card for the like what..the 3rd or 4th time...ok ok no more using the debit card on the internet~got to get the cc in order! And I will dispute the charge tomorrow!). The website I used says they have a 30 day money back garuntee so I will dispute ASAP, and demand my money back too if needed (bank cards aren't always as easy to dispute as credit cards are).

Just did a forum search and saw that link to that thread about this same situation, but thanks anyway Fabion. Got suspiscious when I saw the $18 thing on the official site.

OOOOH gosh I really got to get my head strait. I've already lost BIG TIME online (I tell ya $34 is nothing at this point...I am really admiting my stupidity now!) so these little things now I am learning about. I did take many days to sign up and did tons of searches and all I found were these scam sites (not knowing at the time)!!!!!! What the hell is up with that?!! There must be tons of people here who came through that way, or what?

I did about every key word search I could think of to try to verify this, except for the words "file sharing". I more or less had no idea that file sharing existed. Once I searched those words (after coming here), I found ya easy!!!! Otherwise there are just lots of scams that bring a person here overpaid, everywhere. The scam websites I checked out have the same feel to them too. Same scammer?

I did just do the free trial of rhapsody.com were after the trial you pay $10 a month, plus 79 cents each song burned, so this seemed like a deal! Arghhh. Is Rhapsody a scam too? As I have tons of friends on a yahoo group using it and passing the word? We all sew all the time and need MUSIC.

Anyway I am now in love with lime wire so there is no going back, just correcting the mistake, if I can.

Thanks Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would say windows media player is the best ... just be carful when installing it tho cuz ...once agen microsoft tries to get you to join a pay music sevice and tries to basecley spy on you and your listening habbits . just un-select the boxes for that stuff and click "no thanks" or whatever els it throws at you during the install . and after the install and those initil settings it wont give you any more troble . and cuz you have cable i defanantley go for the .WAV music files and avoid mp3s as much as possibul. (to serch for WAV songs just type ".wav" after the keyword . and beware of converted wavs too cus some ppl are stupid and convert mp3s to wav files wich dont sound any better than mp3s. to see if you have a cd buner it should say on the front of the pc itself on or near the door where you put the cd in. then from there its just drag and drop and a few mouse clicks in media player and presto -a homade cd. also as far as i know the onley legitamet no bullshit file sharing clients are limewire, ares and emule. morphious and kazaa and bearshear are all crap. alsow you can get limewire pro for free too just serch for and d/l it in the limewire your using now (you didint here it from me ;) ) just be shur u scan any software or zip files u d/l with a good antivirus scanner befor opening it cuz thers lots of viruses that are labeled to trick you into downloading them. yeah id say that rapsody thing is crap too. welcome too the world of bootleg music!!...and basecley everything els too.

wildflower April 18th, 2005 11:50 PM

Oh, Thanks for the welcome etc..!

Ok, so I do have norton antivirus, I think it just runs in the backround. I guess I better learn to use it too!?

And what does it mean when I get the box that something is corrupted?

cathodraytube April 19th, 2005 12:07 AM

the corupted message meant that the file in question is broken or fake and should be canceled . if ur d/ling software it could be a virus or it just wont work when its compleat . if its a video it moast likeley will just be some static or interferance in the movie for a second or 2 . if its a song its probobley a fake or it has some bad distortion that will show up as a loud blip or pop noise in the song. yea norton is good and if a virus gets in it should catch it and delete it without you having to do anything . but to be safe scan any software or zip or rar files you download . just right click the file you want to scan and the menu that shows up should have a "scan with norton antivirus " option or simaler. im going to bed now so dont expect any more replies for 18 hours or so ....its 3:00am here...
