Distorted image

I just downloaded VLC to play back videos I couldn't see at first, but now that I can play them they are distorted. What can I do to fix that? Please Help!

It depends on what you mean by distorted:
-if you are experiencing the distortion when you try to do move a step, then it's because your PC is too slow or you need more RAM
-if the distortion is the same and at the same point everu time you play the vid, then the image is a little corrupt.

Distorted Image!

What I meant by the image distorted on the screen is that the video comes out as if all the colors ran together. Almost like the tracking on a vcr.

its just the compression . allmoast all internet movies are highley compressed thus degrading the pictur quality greatley from the origanal . dvds are compressed in mpeg2 at about 40:1 (beleve it or not an un-compressed digital video is about 200gb for a 2 hr movie and doulble that for a 1080i high def movie) and dvds arnt compressed enough for it to be noticabul ,but i have herd that on big screen tvs you can see the compression scars (blocks)on a dvd but they look great otherwize. if you rip a dvd into ur computer and further compress it down to 200mb ,600mb the compression scars are verry noticabul. in the 800-1gig neborhood it looks good but the scars are still ther but less noticabul . 2 gigs+ is close to dvd quality. 4 gigs is dvd quality. also if the movie was ripped into the computer from a vcr and a halfassed job was done then it could verry well be tracking on the vcr that was used to playback the movie . compression scars can be blocks, lack of coler, washed out look, strange colers that shouldent be there ect. if you want good picture find one thats atleast 800mb+ or buy the damnthing.

I answered your original post & moved it out of this thread - because your question has absolutely nothing to do with distorted video image:blink:
