odyssey 350 GEARBOX i have just rebuilt the gearbox/transmission in my honda odyssey 350. it was a royal PITA and took about 6 months to get it back together and to find parts . what id like to know is, is it normal for a gearbox to feel verry hot to the touch, like too hot to touch??? and i allso keep putting oil into it so its level with the oil plug at the top of the box , after i drive it ,the oil seems to be sloping out the vent hole on the top of the oil plug and when i take the plug out after a drive it ,the oil is no longer level with the fill hole. its like i keep toping it off and it keeps spitting it back out. am i overfilling it??? allso if anyone is famillar with odysseys , what type of oil should i use in the gearbox?? iv just been using gear oil (sae 10w 90 i think) is this good or should i use some kind of synthetic stuff ? or somthing thinner? or thicker? (this thing may be more of an asspain than my computer...) |
The relation to Gnutella is ... what? |
there is no rule that sez you must onley talk about computers/file shareing in here (if there is please correct me (sombody othor than mr IHNA ) ). and i thought you were kicked out??!! ....if that is not the case and your like a cockroach that keeps coming back and cant be killed , i would highley apreciate it if you just diddent talk to me anymore unless you have somthing nice and or useful to say . othorwize pelase STFU and dont open your trap at me agen MR IHNA . now will sombody please ansewr my ?s about the gearbox? (anybody BUT IHNA please) thanks |
You know (or maybe you don't), there are rules and there's a thing called "common sense". Sure, if I loose my car keys, I'll come here and ask whether anyone has seen them because that makes a lot of sense. Right? If you ask such awfully off-topic questions, use at least the "Lounge" and stop trying to offend people or you will get kicked out. |
please just dont talk to me anymore. if you keep following my poasts and keep making your stupid little comments at them/me and keep trying to pick fights ,im going to report you to the modorators. |
The only one who's trying to pick fights is you. I suggest you report yourself to a "modorator". |
would you please just quit talking to me! |
I'll consider that option in the future. |
Read this: http://forums.gnutelliums.com/announ...php?forumid=81 and specficaly this: When posting, please include details for: „h Your Operating System „h Your version of your Gnutella Client „h Your Internet connection (56K, Cable, DSL) „h The exact error message, if one pops up „h Any other relevant information that you think may help „h Try to make your post descriptive, specific, and clear so members can quickly and efficiently help you I fail to see any of that in your post. |
if memory serves, there was a thread about parmasian cheese in here that lasted for weeks. if your trying to say that this one is errelavant, id have to dissagree because if there can be threads about rotten cheese in here , i dont see a problem with one about a transmission. |
speak for yourself IHNA. |
Hi cathodraytube Nope not saying that at all but you need to be more specific!!! What model gear box? re: hint --- Your version of your Gnutella Client. Are your seals leaking? hint --- Any other relevant information that you think may help. are you sure the plug is supposed to have a vent? Even though you provided some info. they make different type gear boxes for that model car. One must remember that! Of course you must also remember I have never worked on cars per se, and have never used 90 weight oil on my computer, although I have felt like it a few times :D |

i figured out where the missing oil was going....when the gears turn fast in the the box it was making the oil fill with air bubbles (simalar to what happens to whipped creame) ,makeing it less dence and making it exspand making a small amount of it come out the vent hole. and when i cheacked it when it was cold the next day the oil was back level with the plug again...so im assuming it gos up inside the box more when its running and then comes back to the bottom after sitting for a while. but it still seems hot to the touch...it just dosent seem like gears should get this hot just from moving fast. it probobley is what you sed lassie ...im just a little paranoied about it considering i just put 500$ into it... or maybe the oil itself is heating up from moving so fast and being "whipped" by the gears? |
This thread was originally posted in the Tips & Tricks section which was inappropriate. It was moved to The Lounge so it caters for more open type topics as discussed. If anybody has any constructive input for the topic then feel free to contribute. |
By the way CRT, did you try using Google for Odyssey 350 GEARBOX or best oil for odyssey 350 GEARBOX? I came up with results like http://odysseysalvage.com/350page.html & http://perso.wanadoo.fr/laverdamania/zanegb.htm if that applies at all. |
i did origanaly try google but all i got was sites for BUYING stuff and none that were mantainantce or FAQ oriented. plus i wanted to see if anybody els had one of these things , just for somthing to talk about... |
