somthing stupid with sound on computer...

for some reson the sound on my computer is quite horribul...but onley with WMP and the built in media player in ares p2p ...vlc player, musicmatch jukebox and nero media player sound fine. it dident allways do this befor and i dont know if its a software or hardware problem. when i play music or any audio it shows up as loud hissing and volume fluctuations.

i thot it might be the sound chip ..but it seems to onley do it with WMP and aresMP ...and it just started doing this like a month ago ,it never did it b4.

i tride re installing WMP and it dident fix it...nether did re installing windows itself...

im confuzed ,please help.

SO you checked the same songs with different players?! Check your system audio settings & graphic card. Also check your system over with AV program.

There are better players out there than wmp but wmp is many people's choice b/c it comes with the system & it's what they're used to.

yes ,the "test song" i was using was every day is a winding road by sheryl crow. in the verry beginning of the song a lowd HISSSS comes up verry lowd and then it pulsates in and out thru th erest of the song. the reson i used that song is cuz it has a quiet beginning and the the problems are verry noicabul.

iv tride playing with every audio setting i can find ,but to no avail...

what dose the video cared have to do with this??

i run my 2 antivirrus programs every night befor i go to bed , so if its a virrus its a sneekey one....

can virruses play with your sound like this??

allsow MPC has the hissing/crap with it too ,and the songs are fine when burned to cd and played in the sterio.

its a built in sound chip on the mobo...

cathodraytube July 11th, 2005 09:12 PM

mobo is an asus p4c800-e deluxe
pentium 4 ,socket 478, 3.4ghz ,no OC
1gb ram
120gb maxtor HDD
ati radion 9600se video card
windows XP pro sp 1

like i sed im verry confused about this ...the crackleing is there all the time no matter what player i use, and the lowd HISSSSSing is onley there when i use WMP, MPC or the built in player in ares p2p...

im in the process of setting up an RMA with asus....this just dosent seem normal...

i thot just adding a sound card would fix it but i googled and found that other people are getting this from both the onbored AND the sound card.... :/

UPDATE....

i figured out the HISSSSing .....somthing with an AC3 filter thing in the settings of WMP....

but the crackleing is still a problem and i beleve it to be hardware orented....

hmmmm...
