"class not registered" When I try ro download certain videos, I get "class not registered." Can anyone tell me what this means? And what, if anything, I should do to get around it? |
This is a M$ error that WMP will show due to not having the correct codecs if my memory serves me correctly. You can search the forum for the word if you like to double-check to find the exact M$ article. So get more codecs & I'd recommend getting a backup player with in-built codecs such as VLC. See CODECs list and alternate players for Movies |
Ahhh yes, I had some codecs, so I didn't think that was the problem, but after going here and downloading the K-Lite mega codec pack, my problem is solved. Cheers. http://www.free-codecs.com/ |
It seems as though I was a little hastey thinking everything was fine. At first, after downloading the codecs, I could view videos without problem, but now I am having problems viewing an mpg. Although, I can view mpeg, avi and wmv. To make things more confusing, I had no trouble watching mpgs a couple of days ago. I watched one that I downloaded, but when I tried to watch it again a few days later, I got "cannot open" or something of that nature. What could have changed in the last couple of days that would not allow me to view an mpg, but still mpeg, avi and wmv? When I view the videos I can watch, they open in media player classic. I also have windows media player 10 installed. |
A simple matter of choosing your default video program & program version to playback particular file formats. If you insist upon wmp then make sure you have all the codecs. I've heard some complaints about wmp 10 not performing as it should. |
