Album Length

I am new to LimeWire. Is there a maximum length to an audio album? If not, is there a length that is better. or doesn't it matter?

No limit that I know of I have one at 1 hour 46 mins on mp3 clearly most will be under the 70 odd minutes that will fit on a CD

This thread may be of interest and follow the link at the top of my post in the thread.

Does this help?

Yes it does. Thank you. If I understand you correctly, by keeping an album lenth to 70 minutes, it would be a good length to be transferred to a CD.

Only A Hobo September 24th, 2005 03:43 PM

yes .. I'm just not sure what the exact maximum length for a CD is.

Good luck!

Another question about albums. How do you download into another album? Thanks for your patience.

Only A Hobo September 24th, 2005 04:44 PM

I don't know quite what you mean:confused:

If you downloaded 60-70 minutes into Album 1, and wanted to download some more music, how would you start another album and download additional music into it?

Create a playlist. If you're wanting to burn to audio cd-r then 650 MB disk will hold 74 mins 14 secs & 700 MB disk 79 mins & 54 secs. If you want to burn mp3 disks then it depends upon their bit-rate & file size.

By creating a playlist I mean which ever audio program you're using, create a playlist & add the songs you want onto it until it reaches the length you're after.

BTW mp3 sizes vary depending upon bit-rates. They can range in size (eg: 128-320 kbps bitrate) about 1 MB per minute to over 3 MB per minute depending upon the song (most 320 kbps are less than 3 MB/min but depends upon complexity of particular music.) Different songs will compress differently when compressed as mp3's. Also, different codecs will compress a little differently to others re: quality & file size.

Is that info of any help?

After you have downloaded the songs you want to burn to a CD on a playlist and you haven't had a chance to burn, do you still keep downloading to the same playlist, or do you start another playlist. If so, how do you do that?

Lord of the Rings September 25th, 2005 10:00 AM

It depends upon what type of cd you want to burn. If mp3 disk then as many as a 650/700 MB disk will hold. However if you want to burn a normal audio cd like most people, then stop once the playlist reaches the length of time I suggested. A 650 MB disk will hold 74 mins, etc. Once you have 74 mins of music in your playlist, create a new playlist for any extra material. Otherwise you won't be able to fit them all onto the cd.
