album art showing up in red, what's it mean.

hey gang, I keep getting this "album art" in my library and I haven't downloaded it, I delete it and when I restart Limewire pro, it's there again, although I'm able to delete the entries, I'm curious what it signifies, I have a theory that it's something malicious. Someone reply ASAP.

Hmm this is a curious thing.. I am guessing that you are using windows, because afaik album art does not show up separately in Mac. I believe the Art is attached to the id3 tags that come with the mp3, and on Mac I open the tag with iTunes and can enter or delete Artwork from there. If you don't use iTunes you will need some other type of id3 tag editor to edit the tags. I don't think they are malicious, but if you are using windows I very much hope you have virus protection running and can check.

This was posted by LOTR yesterday "check their id3 tags with mp3 Rage (now called Media Rage which has better support for other formats such as ogg & m4a)"
and you can find Media rage via Google.

I'm not sure if this helps but let us know if it does.

The fact that the art is showing in Red signifies that it is not apparently part of your Shared files.. I imagine.

I have the same problem, everything i download has britney spears as the album art its like a britney spears virus! and i never downloaded her music too, how embarassing, it was so funny when i downloaded a heavy metal song and my friend was over and britney showed up....

album art in red

'specially when you can't view what is represented in red as "album art", there's something strange going on .... no antivirus detects it as malicious though... what's up with it? and too, what does the bold black entries and the red entries signify, anyone??

This album art thing seems to be a Windows issue afaik and I don't truly understand it. In Mac album art does not afaik show up as a separate file.

In Limewire Library, black print signifies shared files and red, unshared files. Designated shared files will show as red initially, until they are properly loaded which will take a bit of time if you are sharing a lot. You will see more red files in certain versions of Limewire, and get confused ... but what I've said applies to all versions ... about the Album art files ... I've no idea what happens if they are red ... I guess they will not be shared???? which version of LW are you using?
