I assume your talking about LW poping back up after you shut it down:confused:. If so then you probably have a virus!

There are a lot of viruses being circulated on the network and you have to be careful what you d/l. Especially program files though you can be infected by other files also.

For possible solutions check here: WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! Part 4(a)
and here:Limewire Acting Wierd (PLEASE HELP!!!)
and here: THERE"S SOMETHING that SHOULD not be there

Oh! and next time remeber to use some protection.;)

I don't know how you figured it out, but it's gone:) I hope i'm not speaking too soon, but lt hasn't poped up for over a half hour.
The only thing is I'm afraid to reinstall lw. It's a shame to because until this virus I thought LW was the best thing since wheat bread.

If it's gone you should be able to d/l and run limewire without any problems. You just have to be careful what type of files you d/l and have anti-virus software running.
www.grisoft.com is a free one thats suppose to be good, avast! 4 Home Edition FREE Download is another one.
The only type of files I d/l are for audio-mp3, for video-mpg and avi,
I stay away from any exe., zip., wma.,wmv, or anything else I'm not comfortable with.
remember to scan all files you d/l and check the file size, if it's too small don't open it.
Good luck:).

Viruses

I know what you mean, I am now having to virus check my PC every day. I'm new so still learning the rules (think I've learnt now ie the only 1 download from a user at a time rule DIDN'T REALISE still I started reading).

On a daily basis I'm picking up about 9 - 14 viruses a day, you should have seen my partners face when he cleaned it up for me one day (hadn't checked for a while) and he found 97 viruses. Oh boy!

Is there a way you can check before you ask to download the file, I'm already not dowloading zip files (learnt my lesson) and guessing the MBs of what a file should be but still picking up viruses. Generally downloading avi, mpegs and the other m... Also when people are uploading from me are they able to hit me with viruses?

There isn't any way to be 100% sure what a file contains before you d/l it, but if your careful and check the file sizes and usa a good virus scanner you should be o.k. For more info on viruses go here: MAJOR TOPICS for Open Discussion HELP

One thing you can do before you d/l something is to look it up using Bitzi. Learn to use it here: How to use Bitzi Web Lookup ...

As far as I know it's not possible, they're uploading from you not downloading to you. Good luck:). gtg
