Help appreciated to launch Lime Wire

The latest version of Java has been installed. The old version was uninstalled. The platform is XP Pro SP2. When I try to launch Limewire a blank window appears that says "Language Options" and I cannot proceed. The Windows firewall is off. I have not been able to launch Limewire successfully as yet. Please advise.

It may or may not be related to your graphic card settings; see (1) The way to fix the Blank screen on startup, & also
2. GeoForce 3D setting

Thank you LotR. I have a NVIDIA graphics card and I got the blank screen with the Java 1.4.2 installed. I removed the Java 1.4.2 using add/remove and installed Java 1.5. Do you think it would help to uninstall and download a version of Java 1.4.2 again?

I now go from the small blank screen titled "Language Options" to a larger blank screen titled "Enabling open information sharing" and that is as far as it goes.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Download the "Offline" version of Java. It's always the safest. Did you check your 3D settings for the NVIDIA card? Java 1.5 is better for LW & should only use 1.4.2 if you're having problems with graphics card.

Make sure your firewalls are all set up to allow LW full access. If you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? If yes, that means you have firewall problems. You have your XP firewall, but your modem/router may also have an internal NAT firewall. If yes you need to check whether it has UPnP support or not. See tips on setting these up here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

BTW with SP2 you may or may not be interested in one or both of these patches: MS & 3rd party patches

Just in case none of the other fixes work (try them first), changing compatibility has worked for a couple of people

IT WORKS!! I disabled the wireless LAN router and then re-enabled it and Limewire fired up. I wish to thank Lord of the Rings and Birdy for taking the time to offer support and advice. The advice from LotR that stated but your modem/router may also have an internal NAT firewall. is what helped me figure it out. Maybe someone else can benefit too.

I thank you again for your help.
