A New Thread for the New Look Lounge

Hi guys,
I thought I would start abit of a thread, to get the new look lounge kicked off..:)
I live in Brisbane, Australia and at the moment we are in the middle of winter, although up here in Queensland you wouldn't know it, it really doesn't get that cold here....
We really could do with some rain as we are now on level 3 water restrictions, which means that we cannot use a hose any more, we have to use buckets to water the gardens with, we cant even fill the bucket with a hose it has to come straight from the tap...:(
It's Wednesday afternoon at the moment and usually I watch the show Prison Break tonight but season 1 ended last week, I suppose we will have to wait another year before we get to see it again....

Anyway tell us about yourself and what's going on in your part of the world at the moment.....:)

Well on the same channel same day .. is of course ... 24 for 2 hours two days running & before that Lost & now not Prison ...

Here in the santa's southern home ... we also are on water restrictions the same ... but it does get cold here!!! Record cold temps here all over the state. Even the reindeers are getting thirsty. :D I even had to put a woolen jumper on them to keep them warm. They were asking for some bananas to help keep them warm! ;)

BTW Lost has been lost in direction for many months now. The director is out for a quick quid but not much to show for it except a boringly slow soapie that never goes anywhere & too many coincidences of people bumping into others, etc. I only started watching it because I thought it was going to be a 3 or 4 part mini series. Now I have to record it & skip thru it. I finish it in about 30 mins.

I heard that Lost was going to last forever .. or at least be something like Twin Peaks, in fact I think it will last until the flashbacks run out or the Network cancels it whichever comes first.

I'm sure there was some rain just now, only four drops, but it sounded good.
I believe the UK has recently had it's hottest day for 95 years, so a drop more of rain would be, in every way cool.

I never knew Santa had a pad down there:)

I've never seen Lost, never even heard of Prison Break:confused:. I must be out of the loop:o, though it's prolly cause I work the evening shift :).

It's been a hot week here with lots of humidity, but not record heat. We could ship you guys some of our rain as it's been a very wet summer so far. It's supposed to rain again tonight. Oh well, you take what you get. The grass is nice and green anyway:cool:.

I can't think of anything witty to say, so ttfn:).

Wish I could send you our rain. You need it and we don't want it. Going to a music festival tomorrow lasts till sunday. Hope it will be dry but I have doubts. Strangest summer ever. We actually had snowfall in may

Only A Hobo July 20th, 2006 04:59 PM

Do you get any dark nights in Summer up there, or is it a 24 hour day?

Enjoy the music! Let us know how it was :)

Sleepless July 20th, 2006 05:05 PM

Not dark. maybe darker than during the day. Can't really tell from all the rainclouds :D

I wish you guys could send some rain as well...
I hope you enjoy the festival Sleepless and let us know how it went and what type of music there was....:)

LOTR are you still craving bananas, there up to $12.00 a kg here at the moment, it's crazy....

I was watching one of the music stations the other day and heard this song, which I really liked it was by MC Lars and it's called download this song, it's worth listening to it's quite funny, so if you get some sort of video hits station keep your eye out for it...;)

Cheers :D

Same price here last I looked. Thought they'd be cheaper up there since there's no/minimal transport costs.
I'll need to check out that song. Sounds interesting. ;)

Back from the festival. It was quite good (not as good as last year). missed two of the (big) names since I had to work on friday and it started thursday. They served anything from folkmusic to techno and heavy rock. Probably not many names that you guys would know of (maybe Beth Hart, Outlandish or Inferno) the rest were pretty unknown + a lot of them were from the Faroe Islands.

Did you by any chance get some of the rain I tried to send? Was pretty dry the whole time but could have been better.

Sounds good :D
We had a cyclone hit a place further up the coast a while back, it was hit pretty bad, and their banana plantations were destroyed, which was one of the towns main source of income...
Since then the cost of bananas have sky-rocketed...

There is another place in NSW, it's called Coffs Harbour and it's the home of the Big Banana (a tourist attraction)...Well about a month back someone stole a heap of bananas from there and they were worth over $200 a bunch...

LMAO.......just imagine you get jailed for stealing bananas.....won't give you a tough reputation behind bars, will it??.......:D

Besides, nowadays I can hardly eat a banana not thinking of you all.....:p ;)

Grandpa July 24th, 2006 09:07 AM

I think you can have your Bananas shipped from Hawaii for less than that. Somebody is making a killing on your banana market. Maybe I will start exporting them from here in the US about $2.00 a bunch last I checked. I could air freight them to you and still make money.:D

foolofthehill July 24th, 2006 09:18 AM

Stay out of my business grandpa......:D ......I get them here for less than 15 cents and I'm almost so close, I could throw them over to her.....;) :p ;)

I'd prefer banana flavoured ice cream, it's so hot in London that all I can dream about is ice cream.

Hot in London? You mean it got over 20 degrees celsius? lol :D Or do you mean someone's hot on your trail.
