How do I rid my computer of these things, so limewire will run regularly again? :shoot: Also, will downloading 'limewire pro' off of the limewire network with out purchasing it work?

AVG free

Avira Antivir

Antispyware etc:

ad-ware __(FREE)

Spybot - Search & Destroy __(FREE)

AVG Antispyware (formerly Ewido)

I'm sure that lots of people try to download Pro off the network. Whether they get a good, clean version of Pro is another matter:rofl:
Why would anyone be so ch_eap, anyway? LW Pro's a great app & the small payment for Pro goes towards the future development of LW.

Personally, I think anyone who tries to download Pro from the network deserves to get a useless, malware infested piece of crap that won't download a single file:cheesy:

You're basically hoping that people get a virus! You do realize that you can get bogus files, corrupt files, and viruses with the LimeWire Pro right?

You can get them with any program but we're still not going to agree with
downloading bogus software off the network. You just can't be sure the
hacked "Pro" versions of LimeWire or anything else are safe to use, especially
in LimeWire's case because the source code is available to the criminals as
well as the rest of us.

Anyway, the last thing you want when you're already fighting off worms is a
version of LimeWire you can't trust, especially as the free version is so easy to
get. The six tools in birdy's post should fix that infestation and the latest
version of LimeWire (4.13.8) is both newer and stronger than any older
version, pro or not, partly because it can use this half-million rule hostiles list.

Agree the small payment helps us all. When you consider all the fantastic stuff we already get for free, I think payment for Pro is the correct thing to do.

May I add a suggestion re: Anti-Virus s'ware ?

I very strongly recommend Avast ...

It is very 'powerful' and the updates are automatic for both virus definitions AND program updates...

It is very 'economical' in CPU and memory usage... And does NOT cause problems on a ShutDown of your OS...

Main tip with it is to always use the 'Advanced' display...


Oooh, and Adaware is excellent.
But, if you wisely elect to use the 'Pro' version, be cautious in your use of Adwatch... It does require some experience to use it properly and it can cause you considerable grief re: 'legitimate' alterations of your Registry settings.

Easy... If you open a Forum Page... Meaning, go to the Forum itself and NOT to a specific post...

On the upper left you will see a box that says, New Thread

Click on that and go for it !

i have to put my 2 sence in lime wire and lime wire pro are garbage program's frostwire is the same as limewirepro exactly and it's free. i wouldn't use either one to be honest. i would download ares from sourceforge.net
that beat's all three of them program's hand's down. i do recommend not downloading ares anywhere but from sourceforge though due to all the fake copies where the site want's payement when it's free.

as for limewirepro it should never be sold. the source code is free the file's are free and further developement of what? they are going to improve it or not without being paid.
when you get sued by the riaa you think they are really gonna care you paid for your program? answer's no!!!!

if you must be hypocrytical then you shouldn't be downloading file's period but paying for them, thru i tunes or another such site. do not put someone down or make such a comment, such as oh that's wrong to download a file without paying for it, when in fact this entire forum is based on stealing yes i said stealing from artists or programmer's who sell their product's online. you really should judge yourself before judging other's.

oh and don't try that crap i'm only making back up's of the file's i already own, because we all know, all you have to do is insert the disc and pay yes i said quit being cheap and pay for an application that will allow you to rip a backup copy of your legal purchase.

if you would like to get ares running don't be afraid to come on over and ask for help. now to help you here.

if you have sp2 installed and you are using a 64 bit proccessor you should download the sp2 patch we have in our download's section. if you are running thru a router, or a dsl user i would try port forwarding ares transfer port.
as for playa's post,
you will need to totaly remove ares thru the add/remove also you will need to delete ares reg key's. start/run/regedit from there go to hkey_current user
then onto software find ares and delete the ares folder and sub folder's
from there check c drive make sure there is no ares folder left behind and then reboot computer. then download a real copy from SourceForge.net: Files
that is the entire list of every version there was ever made. i personally would recomend stying within the 190 version say 193 up to 199.
those seem to be the better of all the previous and later version's, 194 and up support torrent's. once you install the fresh copy then you should recieve another popup about letting it access the net from zone, go ahead and allow it. that should solve your issue's playa.

your more than welcome to. i don't use ares anymore nor do i use limewire. i use torrent's.
i'm not looking for a reaction i am telling the person who asked and other's who come looking for help how to resolve thier issue. if your not inteligent enough to gleem that by my post, well i don't know what to tell you.
if you come to my site and ask for a limewire section i have no problem setting the topic up. although i am a computer support site dealing with hardware,software,and networking issue's. i have a p2p section where any user can post about any p2p network they wish.
it's all software and networking.
i just like to keep it seperate from other software due to the fact p2p is the meain thing ppl seek when uisng the internet. feel free to come over and request a limewire section as i said before. doesn't bother me.

just so you do know ares is 10 times better than limewire anyday it's been proven time and time again. same file's and with better speed's. most ares user's were at one time limewire user's and ares has over 1 million user's on it's own private network. also ares you may be lucky to get 2 bad file's in a year. i think that speak's for itself.

i also spoke the truth when i said 2 member's here are going to gang up on one member for asking about pirating a software when if your downloading music it is the same exact thing. so no need to point finger's.

i'm sorry that your feeling's are hurt by truth's and fact's. to bad limewire is scam. my forum is free newly opened for 3 month's, and i only charge when a remote assist is asked for, wich is way cheaper than paying geeksquad for the same customer care for a remote assist. had you read i even state make sure you want to remote assist before paying for it.
maybe if you faced what the fact's are, instead of propaganda spread thru limewire's developer's.
it's plane to see they will give you a half azzed coded version for free but if you want a fully working copy it's gonna cost up to 30 buck's.
the code's free, i don't see frostwire charging for the same coded applcation that is the exact same copy of limewirepro but it's free. grow up there are other alternative's for p2p client's if your feeling so scared that i may sway someone from using then pass the pro version out free. it doesn't cost anyone any monies out of their pocket to work on the source code for limewire all it cost is time. might as well tell everyone it's gonna cost to join the forum for further development and modification's. sound's stupid doesn't it? it does just like someone getting on someone elses back for reccommending another p2p client that doesn't come with a high price to use, and no virus's. like i said i don't use ares. so really don't care how you feel about ares, but i know in test's i have ran for 3 year's now. ares is the p2p client someone should use if they want file without virus's and at fast speed's. take's me twice the amount of time to download from limewire than same file from ares. it's fact plain and simple. as i said go read all the p2p talk no one has anything good to say about limewire.

incase you missed it. limewire is being sued for selling a client that offer's pirated file's and that's absolutely free. so why should a user pay for a removing, and editing a couple line's of code? they shouldn't. it's fact limewire is the scam. sorry if you don't enjoy me making user's aware of what is really happening and suggest they should use another client.
