Hybrid Car ??

I am getting ready to buy another car now. When gas prices were $4 plus, I was really thinking about buying a hybrid. Now with gas prices back down to $2 or less, should I.

I understand the environment situation, however with the cost of a hybrid being $5k plus more, I will never make the money back over the life of the 4-5 years I am going to keep the car.

So any feedback of your experience owning a hybrid, or why I should or shoulnt would be appreciated.

Can't help on the hybrid issue; just passing on what Granny always said, "Buy American".

And, "If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter". (She also had a great sense of humor.)

Don't worry about the price of gas. It goes up as the dollar goes down, as it must. We won't have to wait long. I think hybrid is a farce. Why not go lpg conversion. Until all electric or natural gas gets going, that's what I reckon is the best bet.

Hybrid Cars

I have a 2005 Toyota Prius and it is my second hybrid car. The first was also a hybrid, a 2002 Prius. These cars are exceptionally great to drive. I've had absolutely no problems with either of the cars. Prius drivers know we don't have to charge the batteries but people who don't drive these cars seem not to know this. Also, these cars have plenty of power and speed. I could easily exceed the speed limit here in Central NY State if I wanted to and found myself once going 80mph when I passed cars. I was surprised when I saw how fast I was going because I didn't feel I was that fast.
As far as mileage, in winter here in upstate NY, it gets quite cold and I find I obtain about 40 mph during very cold weather. In summer, I get easily over 50mph, as much as 53mph. I will never buy anything but a hybrid as long as I am driving.

Good onya Randall!
Hybrid cars are the way of the future, and the quicker [Removed] Americans realise it the better off they will be.

Sorry Sleepless.
I didn't realise that such an inocuous insult would upset anyone.
I promise I won't do it again.

I dont know what to tell you on the hybrid issue. I only drive American made cars and am not much for the hybrids but if you want to spend less in gas over the full life of the car i suggest getting the car. Gas will go back up as the dollar goes down.

What about the environment? :D Wouldn't be nice to be able to walk beside a highway or freeway or footpath beside bumper to bumper full city peak traffic & not be overcome by poisonous fumes from car exhausts? :) Outside the city, it's amazing how many more stars you can see in the sky at night compared to the smog covered skies over the cities. Something I noticed from a very young age. Even during the daytime, see how far you can see across the horizon in the city with any clarity, compared to outside the urban scrawl.

I think many people are well aware of the gas gussoling hungry cars made in USA. :p lol :D Though I've heard at least one of the major car company in USA is going to stop making such large cars for a number of reasons.
