UK ISP cut off customers without warning

Well People

It has now started in the UK, i.e. being deprived of your Internet connection without warning. And to get your connection back you have to confess your guilt whether or not you are innocent.

Here is the story:

Well I guess that means open season for other internet providers to move in on the territory. I'm sure lots of people would like to switch.

I do recall reading about
Quote:

However, the recent Digital Britain report said disconnection was not the government's "preferred option" given that internet access is now seen to be as critical as traditional utilities such as electricity.
That's what monopolies can afford to do, show their true arrogance in the scenario above mentioned by UK Bob. One problem with ISP's in UK is that they are falling upon monopolies with the larger ones buying up the smaller ISP's but the smaller ones retaining their original isp name.

I'm not sure such would be allowed over here ... since the government also considers internet as an important part of everybody's lives. But then again, our government has not taken such a stance about p2p sharing as the european countries have. And my isp ignores any pressures from the music industry, or so I read ... sorry we don't know you, nor do we do business with you! (gives the special local finger salute) lol :p

lol my ISP doesn't even read them. More like Copyright bullshit = Trash, Actual relevant mail = read and respond. They got tired of having to explain to customers that trade group "laws" don't mean legit laws here.

LOTR

What any British Government says and what they actually do and/or allowed to be done are totally different things. Just look at the number of times various British pressure groups have had to take the UK Government to Strasbourg (European Court of Human Rights) to secure rights and agreements the Government feels are no longer prudent.

To tell you the truth, I am surprised a "Freedom of Information Act" was ever passed in the UK, simply because they like to keep things hidden and use copious amounts of double-talk/weasel words.

Anyway, it's not what the Government says that counts it's what it does.

Guys

Here is another story that should sent shivers down every UK's citizens spine.

Government denies mass surveillance tech

And we used to think that only China (and Russia) wanted to know what their citizens were doing and thinking.
