Scoring in the Arcade since its inception the arcade has allowed a single user to post multiple scores in a single game...other forums that have arcades typically set it so that there is only one score per user per game, which makes more sense to me... other thoughts on the issue? |
I agree with one score per user.. no other thoughts |
I agree with one score. The only other thing that comes to mind is if we think someone is cheating and he blows the arcade up with a very high score, we could at least see if he had played the game before or he just posted this outragous score the first time playing. Make since?? Am very tired, Sorry. |
good point Remoc, I hadn't thought of that (though I am sure at some point the concept would have crossed my mind...)...I wonder if the admin panel would allow mods to view a log of the scores? |
What is wrong with a separate score for each time a game played? Simple question. :) Why does the arcade here need to replicate others? Keep in mind this is not a game site, the arcade is intended as an extra. Scores are pruned after 18 months of age. Mod cp doesn't record each individual score unless they are all set to be recorded as they are at present. |
I was playing games in a seperate window and not bothering to submit every score. However, I started to let scores acumulate so that I could show that I was not cheating. Now I'm back to seperate windows again. I voted in favor of one score per player, but I really don't care. |

I can easily take up the whole first page of scores on certain games, and others can do that for the games they excel at... its not a point of trying to imitate other forums, rather present a fair scoring platform...and that of course affects the scoring on the leader board part of it all... |
It's not something that I have a strong opinion about. I see Peerless's point, but for me it's not an issue. I voted to leave it as is. |
If it aint broke, don't fix it.Just wondering why this would matter to Peerless when he's holding 3 of the 5 top spots? |
because I think that is unfair...yep, I know, I can delete my own scores (and I have deleted plenty of my top scores over time)...I could also, if I wanted to be 'rude', delete secondary scores of others also (but they of course can't)...in the big picture it won't change my positions at all on the main screen (though it will change the numbers behind the leaderboard)...but it will directly affect the places on each individual game... I liken my logic to how all contests are determined..the person who gets first place gets the gold...he/she doesn't also get the silver and bronze...the way it is now a person (who simply enjoys playing a game and/or wants to better their score...a good example is I noticed on another board there were scores way higher than mine on Tuer, Tuer, Tuer...so I played around a bit and figured out why and proceeded to get a much higher score....and yep, I left my previous scores there) can hold the top 100 positions of any given game if they dominate it to that extent...I bet I could hold the top 100 spots in SeeSaw, the 3d racing games, Intrusion and a few others.... its pretty damned simple math Paul...if the things were changed my total score on the leader of the arcade would drop, other's would rise...the placing would probably not change for me, but it might very well for others who weren't even on the top ten on certain games and now suddenly find themselves in second place on that game... I do know I have never understood any sort of logic in the way the arcade is presently set up.... |
I guess the question is; do you want to see the top three scores, or the best three players of a given game? Like Peerless, I think the latter is more fair. |
At present, Peerless & BLackhorse 70V hold over 50% of the champion scores. Add the next 2 or 3 members on the total champion wins list & you have 'over' 3/4 of all games (over 500 games) all held by a handful people. I can see Peerless's logic; instead of at times multiple pages of scores, only a single score page with 1-10 players listed. However, I suspect those in favor of the change are whom we might refer to gamers; experienced at playing these kinds of games. Those who perhaps are not in favor are not as heavily into gaming & probably not as competitive in attitude also. Being able to post a different token score & have it listed is probably of more value to these members rather than having to beat their previous score for their effort to be seen. |
well, I don't know what parameters are available, but simply showing only the top ten scores is also bogus IMHO...the list should allow any player's score to be shown... on a related note, I'm not sure how I view a change if it requires losing all of the present scores.... |
