The weather - whether we like it or not! What's the weather like in your part of the world? Too hot, too cold or just right? Let us know what's going on where you live. Here in Perth right now it's hot, hot and hot: Perth weather - local weather forecast I'm melting, I'm melting.... |
Wow, 41C (105.8F) top and 40.3C presently for Perth. Could almost fry eggs on your car bonnet. lol :D Just as well for swim pools. ;) Here it's blue skies, warm but not hot. Pleasant day. Melbourne weather - local weather forecast Presently 20.2°C (68.3F), tonight will be 16°C and 29°C tomorrow. Saturday & Sunday expecting 33°C (91.4F). I believe the english complain about it being hot when it gets over 20C during their summer. lol :p |
Around freezing here. Yesterday it was snowing making me not notice a speed bump resulting in a broken sump, which may or may not be weldable (I find out tomorrow, whether I have no car until it's welded or if I have to wait at least a week for parts) In summary :bangh::bangh::bangh: We can switch. You come here and I go to Australia :) |
Australians are the most lucky people this time! I guess Australia it's the hottest place in the world in January. Here it's really cold and snowy. __________ link removed |
It's a bit nippy in San Francisco, somewhere in the high 40's (degrees F), down from 61 this afternoon. In S.F., if you're not wearing your jacket, have it with you! Global warming is happening in all the wrong places. I'm tempted to run outside with all of my aerosol cans. |
It's cold in London, about 2 degrees C. |

Hope you're staying warm! |
Hi Birdy Yes, you are correct, there is between 1" to 2" of settle snow on the ground. However, I am staying nice and warm inside and not venturing to go outside. I bet you are having great weather, I'm envious :winklaugh: UK Bob |
Ski London? It's 47 F in S.F., expecting 65 later today. We were once told that the U.S. would be "going metric" in measures of weight, distance, and temperature. I remember thinking that it will be very hard for me to adapt, as I had been using our old system through my entire life. I was 8 years old at the time (51 yrs ago). It is expected that 5.1 million new televisons will be purchased today, for the 100 million+ who are expected to watch the Super Bowl (even though the S.F. 49ers will not be playing). Football is a rough sport, but no so much as soccer, which is so dangerous that sometimes even the players are injured! |

However, the British public did not like this and stubbornly stuck to buying their goods, wherever possible, in imperial measures. The authorities struck back by prosecuting some market stall holders for selling their fruit and vegetables in imperial measures. But this tactic generated so much bad publicity for the authorities, and with anti-European politicians jumping on the bandwagon, that the legislation forcing the use metric measures was amended to make it use voluntary for small shops and market stall holders. Supermarkets and above, however, still have to show both metric and imperial weights. The upshot of all this nonsense is that you have youngsters that don't know what an "inch" or an "ounce" is, because they have been taught in the metric system, and people of our age group doing a mental conversions back to pounds, pints, feet and inches, e.g. 30cm = 12" (the size of an LP), 1 meter = 39" or 3' 3", 1 litre = 2.2 pints and 1 Kilo = 2.2lbs. As for Soccer being more dangerous than American Football is highly unlikely, your guys have to wear body armour for protection because your football (which is more like our rugby) is a contact sport while soccer/football is non-contact. The US gallon was different to the gallon used in UK and Australia. The US gallon was smaller. Australia's changeover to metric was in the 1970's. I did not know that about the UK not being fully metric other than they still had road sign posts with miles instead of kilometres. Do cars over there use KM or miles for distance and speed? And what about speed signs? Having both must be confusing for the younger generation. So in car racing, I guess the european cars are faster because they use KM/hr instead of MPH. lol :p (Oh a few of the German freeways are speed limitless I heard.) |

One thing I do know, and that is petrol is sold per litre and not by the gallon, I guess that the cost is now so high that the price looks psychologically better in litres than in it does in gallons. UK Bob |
Well, it's frigging hot again (still). Forecast for today was 40° C, apparently we got to 41° earlier this afternoon: Perth weather - local weather forecast It's crazy - one side of the country is melting while the other side is flooding. :wasntme: |
Good news, winter will only be the low 30° C's lol. Oh the cool down is later in the week I read. |
We're at the mercy of the wind today. It's been a bit wild, even by Perth standards. Severe weather warning in place, with potential for wind gusts to 110 km/h. It's been bad for a few days, earlier in the week some of the northern suburbs had severe damage: Clean up continues after tornado's destruction - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) |
My city is so hot, sometime it rain ...everything become bad to me,oh ... my health!!! |
Bloody hot. And the thought of 40° plus for the next 3 days isn't so nice. Perth weather - local weather forecast Right now, it's 41.8° under my pergola (in the shade). :shoot: |
Another hot one yesterday - 43° C. Today will be a balmy (more like barmy) 41° Apparently, we had our hottest night on record: Weather News - Perth endures hottest night on record |
wow that's super hot. I believe Queensland's been going through a super hot spell. For us summer arrived a little late. Expecting 42° C Tuesday & 41° C Thursday. 24° C here presently. |
You would prefer this over our 3-5 degrees celceus atm, not to mention breaking the highest measured wind (before the wind measuring thingy breaks, it has been higher, but not measured) in December at over 73 meters per second and average windspeed over 10 minutes above 50 meters per second. We're so used to it though that unlike elsewhere people don't die etc. |
Bats, Freezing Hell, Storms - Global Warming? Hi Birdy & LOTR Guys, it's so hot in Australia that your bats are dropping dead from the heat: BBC News - Australia extreme heat kills thousand of bats While in the US & Canada is freezing: BBC News - US weather: Travelling the frozen road to Hell And in the UK we are having floods & storms: BBC News - Muchelney on Somerset Levels still cut off by floods BBC News - UK Storms: Flood warnings after damaging tides and rain Could this be the start of global warming? UK Bob |
I forgot I left the kettle heating on the stove, definitely a case of kitchen warming lol. The kettle only just survived luckily. I'm getting close to my annual holiday, overdue I think. Lack of sleep seems to shrink my brain little by little, not to mention other unhealthy effects :D |
:whistling::whistling::whistling::whistling:  Bad (Big Carbon Footprint) LOTR :w00t: :whistling::whistling::whistling::whistling: |
Hi UK Bob, LOTR might be melting, as he's getting the hot weather that we had on the weekend. I feel sorry for all playing in the Australian Open  Hope the weather is a little less awful in the UK now. |
Hi Birdy Yes, the weather has got a little bit better in the UK but it's due to turn awful again. As for the boys & girls in the Australian Open, doing excessive activity at 40 - 50 degrees centigrade is more than the human body can endure. UK Bob |
A cold day in Hell Hell, Michigan: 19F today, dropping to 2 tonight (-9 with wind chill), back up to 10 tomorrow. Meanwhile, it's a typical summer day in San Francisco. |
