Paid for LimeWire pro - now can't download

While using basic my search results were good and downloads were ok. So I paid for the pro and now search is very bad almost nothing and can't download - always busy or searching or doing every thing else except download. I'm a bit disapointed because I thought i would do the right thing and pay for it .... your help would be appreciate.

I am running window XP, 500MB ram , Intel P4 1.8Ghz , although basic was running fine! - I didn't uninstall the basic and just loaded the pro over the top.

Thanks

the search results you get are not dependent upon the version of LimeWire you have - if you are looking for a file that no one currently on the network has, then your search result will come up nil. i would suggest you try your search again.

thanks!

can't download

I relise if the file isn't there it will not show up , but it was a matter of 3 min between upgrading to pro and search results went from 30 to Nil ! ( as an example) also when downloading all downloads have message "query sent - waiting for reply" and I mean every download I attemp... It just seems strange that everything was working fine I upgrade and boom nothing works all in a matter of 3 min ?!

BTW I registered as member .. I sent original message.

that's really not unusual. upgrading your application will not make it work any less than it did before. the "Requery sent..." message means either the host went offline, or the number of people the host is allowing to download the file has been reached. LimeWire has no control over when hosts stay online, go offline, or how many people they allow to get files from them simultaneously.

LimeWire, since it implemented Ultrapeers, seems to take its time after starting it until your search horizon has grown to a sensible size. And here I don't mean the figures shown in the statistics window, but you'll have to wait a few minutes until search queries return lots of results. Also sometimes you are connected to Ultrapeers on crappy connections (some clients seem to try uploading two or three files while keeping up ~50 connections with an upstream of 128kbit/s).

Some solutions for you problems might be to wait until you are properly connected (shouldn't take longer than two or three minutes). If it still doesn't work, you might want to set the connections to keep up in the Connections-tab to a higher value (maybe 6 or so). Also check, that you are throttling the bandwidth of your uploads. You should reserve at least 2 or 3 kbytes/s of your upstream for connections only if you are a simple client and at least 12kbytes of your upstream if you are an Ultrapeer.

Thanks guys for your help, I last question how do I check my bandwith throttling ( as mentioned by Taliban) ?

It seems the longer I keep it running the better it gets, although it stops and starts when downloading.
