ok i have downloaded limewire. the following is my setup and subsequent problem

i have a g4 mac laptop which i connect to the internet via a dlink router. my internet and email works fine. i have put in the force ip address of the router. still no connecting at all..

any helpful advice for me?

unfortunately i don't have a mac - would like to though... anyway...

i guess you tried without forcing the IP...?
do you have a firewall running? if so you have to open the port 6346 for gnutella.
do you use a proxy for internet? if so check that the proxy is NOT set for all internet connection types only fot HTTP.
are you sure that your ISP does not block the port? if you are not try using the port 6347 or even another port (ports below 200 or so are reserved. you might use them but it might interfere with other services running).
you might wanna try it on the installation -> Mac forum.
