New version = connection problems

Up till last night I was using Limewire 2.3.2, and I had few complaints.
Then I got the notice about the new version, and I downloaded & installed 2.4.2. Since then I've had nothing but trouble.

Yes, I get connected without problems when the program starts. But when I start getting kicked off, the interface won't seek out new connections like it used to. I checked in the options to see that the host cache sites were there (i.e. router.limewire.com, connect1.gnutellanet.com, etc.) and they are. So I added them manually in the connections display. It would search them once, and if no connections could be made it stopped looking.

And once I did that manual connection attempt once, it no longer worked. The GUI wouldn't do anything.

The Connect title in the menu does nothing at all.

I am ready to trash the new install and put 2.3.2 back into action, unless someone can tell me what is wrong!

I'm not behind any kind of firewall, I'm running a modem connection and I've never had a connection problem before. Maybe someone knows the secret here.

This problem happens when your ISP reset your connection and you were offline for a couple of seconds.

Try entering router4.limewire.com : 6346 manually. - router.limewire.com doesn't really exist anymore (LimeWire usually translates router.limewire.com to router4.limewire.com automatically).

Still getting crapped upon

This still isn't working.

Limewire 2.4.2 refuses to reconnect by itself. I fail to understand why they would have changed this from 2.3.2, in which I had no problems.

I've filed a bug report and hopefully the programmers can look into it. In the meantime I'm stuck with not being able to download much, because I can't sit here at the comp every minute of the day and do a manual reconnect to the router!

Is anyone else having this same problem?

What is wrong with this new limewire

I too am having problems getting any kind of connection. Last week I upgraded to 2.44 and the program would not even launch. It wanted me to send them a copy and paste of the problem. That was fixed last week. Limewire support said there was a problem with the download site. I downloaded the newest and greatest and now I cannot even get a connection. It just sits there. I purchased the pro version because I thought limewire was such a great filesharing tool that I thought the guys at limewire such get something out of it. Well I have had nothing but problems since then. Is anyone else having these problems. AND NO, I AM NOT BEHIND A FIREWALL!!!

Yeah Ive been having the same problems with the new version of LimeWire. I hate it cause I used to Love LimeWire. They need to fix this soon. Like NOW!!!

I've yet to hear anything regarding the reason why the new version won't connect by itself, or to even get a confirmation that they received the "bug report" I sent in.

I too liked Limewire a great deal, and even recommended it to all my friends. However, since the new version has bombed for me I've went back and told them all. I'm using WinMX now, and will continue to do so unless LimeWire's programmers can have a look into this...

The problem with your bug report can be, that the LimeWire developers aren't able to reproduce the bug. If you can't reproduce a bug it's almost impossible to investigate what's causing it.

So be sure to include your limewire.props file, a detailed description of your problem, maybe even a screenshot and information on which Operating System you are using, what computer you were using, how your network configuration (ie firewall, router) is and maybe even which ISP you subscribed with.

It'd be also helpful if you tried different configurations for LimeWire and your internet connection yourself...
