Can't connect to Ultrapeers

I start it up, I may get connected to a few other regular clients, but I never ever am getting any ultrapeers to connect to. I used to be able to a couple of weeks ago, but right now I can let it run for hours and not one ultrapeer will show up. Help!! I am on cable, I am using Limewire pro, the newest version. I have everything setup as it should be as far as I can tell. Any help would be great!! Thanks.

Under your connection tab (you may need to enable it by going to the 'View' menu item and ticking the connection box) type router4.limewire.com and manually remove any non-ultrapeer connections.

If you are able to make some connection - then there is no good reason why you shouldn't be able to find an ultrapeer. (A Gnucleus connection is also an ultrapeer connection although some people prefer the LimeWire Ultrapeers).

You may have wandered into an backwater of the gnutella network that doesn't have many ultrapeers lying around. router4.limewire.com should bring you back to the center of activity (as it were).

Ok here we go. I started limewire pro up, and all the sudden, without doing a thing, i find myself connected to 4 ultrapeers for about 15 minutes, then without any changes, suddenly im just seeing a spam of regular clients none of which connect, and no ultrapeers, so i try what you said. and nothing. I will say at one point I ran ad-aware, and since then no ultrapeers. I hve uninstalled, and reinstalled various clients that use gnutella networks and none of them will work. I have the limewire pro now, which should not require any spyware anyway since it was not supposed to have ads. I can find nothing to fix whatever ad-aware removed. Like I said I have installed every gnutella network using client I can find and none of them will work now.

Until you have actually connected, you don't know whether it is an ultrapeer or not. It shows up as a regular client while it tries to contact the client.

I don't /think/ that LimeWire is tied to any of the advertising - but I don't know for certain - I registered from the beginning.

Quite often LimeWire will go through a whole series of clients looking for an ultrapeer to connect to. Each ultrapeer allows only a limited number of Leaves, so if all the ultrapeers in your area are full of Leaves you will have trouble finding an Ultrapeer to connect to.

Also, if you have a poor connection (sometimes my bandwidth for LimeWire drops way down due to my ISP messing around or me doing other stuff at the same time) then you'll be dropped by your current ultrapeers (presumably due to timeouts or too much bounced/dropped traffic) and have to find a new set.

I assume that you have turned yourself off as an ultrapeer?

Options|Speed|Disable Ultrapeer

What version of LimeWire are you using?

I suspect the problem might be down to an unstable internet connection. Look for some network monitoring tools to monitor your traffic - see if you can sustain throughput (up and down) to other locations.
