Lightbulb My weird solution in starting a download. Try it, at least it works for me.

Hmmm.. Nobody replies to my "Ahhhh~ I'm So Confused" thread, so I think I may as well rephrase it in another way.

I have no problem connecting to the Gnutella Network. But, most of the time, my list of searched downloads will just keep on sending requeries for hours, with hardly one successful downloading connection to the host. However, I have accidentally found out that if I search again for the items, the corresponding items in the searched download list will start downloading immediately.

I am not sure why that happens, and if it is the way Limewire works, but it worths a try.

If this works for you, please reply me, ok?
Or if you know what's going on, reply me too. Thanks :D

Default Works for me too - sort of

I tried irunning a duplicate search and that has gotten some stalled downloads running again. Some remain stalled. Is this pointing at some problem in Limewire? I'm running 2.4.4.

This behaviour is actually wanted by the developers.

Question

-_-" Why do they want that? It's so inconvenient for the users...

In what way is it inconvenient?

There is a feature that allows the user to do make additional searches for download sources. You don't have to use it - LimeWire will perform searches for additional sources from time to time anyway - but if you want, you can manually search and any sources found will be added to your current download.

Stalled downloads are usually due to no available upload slots being available (or no machines sharing that file in your current search range). There's nothing wrong with the software in this respect. If a file has been stalled for a long time it probably means that you are trying to download a rare file or one that is extremely popular.

Stalled files will re-start from eventually with no user intervention (usually).

This feature requires a bit of experience to use properly. Sometimes after a new search, the original "busy" connection (usually a bit more hopeful than the eternal "requery") will be lost after another hit shows up in the search. I don't know if the previous host address is somehow stored, so that there is a sort of cumulative "smart download" effect. At the same time, only one of a "smart download" set may begin, leaving you with a partial file in the library. But at least you are downloading something.

Otherwise, this is a very useful feature. If you class your downloads according to artist or TV program, for instance, you can continue doing more global searches and several stalled downloads can begin at once.
