I also noticed that other than the message itself, little else seems to be affected but for some odd reason I do find 2 rather disturbing items with LimeWire:

You should first un install your copy of LimeWire and then go and download and install the LimeWire Performance enhancement available here: http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/download
Then install LimeWire once again and then re start your computer and see if it will run correctly now.
To answer your other questions:
Gnutella is a decentralized network unlike the old Napster and the search results will differ everytime because you are constantly connected to different hosts so your horizon will keep changing aswell.If one of your searches turned up with 0 results then you where temporaily conneced to a bad host.
