![]() I have used LimeWire for a short time and recently have faced enormous difficulty getting any searches to be done. When I end my sedssion, I get an error message as follows - "Javaw has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL Javaw will now close. If you continue to experience difficulties, try restarting your computer" despite restarting the computer several times, this error keeps showing up each time I am done with my session and searches have grounded to a halt. ![]() |

![]() Yes, This is actually a problem with Java. There is one solution that might work for you. You can try running LimeWire with Java 1.3. Obviously this has the drawback that you can't use any of the new benefits of Java 1.4. Also I'm not certain whether this will actually work or not. Another option is to just forget about it. As far as I can tell, there are no other consequences of the bug other than the error message. I'll continue to investigate the problem and let you know if I find a better solution. Let me know if this works out for you, Avi |

![]() Hello Avi, Thanks so much for at least assuring me that my computer was not a piece-of-you-know-what ![]() I also noticed that other than the message itself, little else seems to be affected but for some odd reason I do find 2 rather disturbing items with LimeWire: 1. Inconsistent searches - you may run a search RIGH afterc the previous IDENTICAL search and get radically different results at times. 2. At times, despite everything seemingly working nroamally, you type in a search and it just finds NOTHING even tho you put in something rather popular or one that had previously yielded results. Why does that happen?? I appreciate your efforts to find a solution for the Java error. By the way, is your name Avi really?? are you Irsaeli?? Thanks again and have a happy 4th of July ![]() Igal |

You should first un install your copy of LimeWire and then go and download and install the LimeWire Performance enhancement available here: http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/download Then install LimeWire once again and then re start your computer and see if it will run correctly now. To answer your other questions: Gnutella is a decentralized network unlike the old Napster and the search results will differ everytime because you are constantly connected to different hosts so your horizon will keep changing aswell. If one of your searches turned up with 0 results then you where temporaily conneced to a bad host.

![]() You could try installing and uninstalling LimeWire and Java. As for the performance enhancement, I'd guess you probably have it installed already because as far as I can tell, the problem is more frequent with the new Java! In fact, I haven't been able to produce the problem using Java 1.3. Avi Last edited by ajutagir; July 3rd, 2002 at 09:41 AM. |
