Limewire on Multirouter Windows XP Host I'm using LimeWire Pro 2.5.3. Best $9.50 I've spent in a while. :) My Windows XP host has two IP addresses, one for the outside cable modem and a 192.168.0.1 address for a local LAN. The XP machine does NAT translation (which Microsoft uses the euphemism of "Internet Connection Sharing" for). Limewire runs great and after two days turned me into an Ultrapeer. But I noticed two of the Ultrapeer connections were to 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.1:6346. Those had been there for a day or so before I took a interest in them--it was then I realized Limewire connected to itself! I was probably causing bad connectivity on the network due to the fact I only had four actual ultrapeers and two ones connected to myself. Obviously, LimeWire should check if an IP is on the local machine and not use it. /// Zoid. |
For now add the IP 192.168.0.1 to your block list in the options. |
