How do I make adjustments ??

I was advised that perhaps I am using too many sockets (whatever that means) !! Can someone pls. help me in this matter ??

Too many connections. If i have over 10 connections total host+uploads+downloads win98SE can crash. Linux it aint; try using 3 or 4 hosts--it should be enough.
