Angry What a waste of my time!!!!

I have a Mac OS 9.2 and have downloaded LIME WIRE at least 5 times(the free one on the site), disabled my firewall, and read the user guide over and over and over..... I still Can Not Connect!!! I joined easymusic download and paid for it - There is nothing easy about it, I NEVER have a green light with Lime Wire and can not Download. I feel like I have been ripped off. It seems like alot of other people are complaining about the same thing. WHATS THE DEAL WITH THE CONNECTION??????

Default speaking of wasting time...

FYI: Most of the people giving support in this forum are in no way affiliated with LimeWire and help users voluntarily on their free time.

Your yelling around is inappropriate.

I don't know what easymusic is but are you sure it is related to your problems with LimeWire?

It would help if you could give some additional information, like:
  • What kind of internet connection do you have?
  • Do you connect through a router?
  • Do you have any other programs running while you are using LimeWire?

Hi, I'm new to all this, and only downloaded Limewire last night. I am running WinXP and have an ordinary modem connection through BT. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can offer.

Anyway, I have been reading the forum, and I'm slightly confuddled!!? I've read about the green light - which I can't remember ever seeing. I have a red spot with 'sharing three files' to the left of it. Is this correct? At the same time, the downloads box says, for one item, 'waiting 30s for 1 busy', and for the other tiems it has 'could not dowload, awaiting sources'. Is this normal? and do I just have to wait?

Also (sorry..... ) When I try to do a search, I can type in the title, artist, etc., but the 'search' button/icon is 'greyed' out. So I can't perform the search ..... what am I doing wrong??

Thanks for taking the time to read this plea for help!!

Regards,

Kathy

hi Kathy
I'm not on XP, but until an expert shows, look for a menu item called something like "connections", and a file menu with a choice to "connect". You need to be connected in order to search, and once connected to a few hosts, the red light should turn green. Once you can search, the "awaiting" message will change once the same file is found. As for the "waiting" message, you don't have to do anything: that means the host machine is busy, and LW is waiting for the other machine to open a download slot for you.

Hope this helps you get started. Cheers

I too am using mac 9.2, prior to the upgrade I had no problems it worked great. For the past two months nothing. I have installed, reinstalled, removed preferences, waited, you name it. It connects for about 15 seconds, then gone. Have not been able to search one thing. I have a stand alone home computer, no firewall issues that I am aware of. Connected thru cable, they say there are not blocks, and there was no problems before March. As far as the easy music, i also tried that, didn't know they used limewire. When I emailed them with all the limewire problems, they refunded my money no questions asked. I can't figure not why this won't work, when it did so well prior to this.

Kathy--you're welcome. Glad it worked.

Cole--wish there was a quick answer for you, but it sounds like you've tried all. If you're using 2.9.10, the only thing I can think of is searching for any invisible folders with Sherlock or reinstalling java. Did you search for posts by "limedude" (I think he has a similar set-up to yours)?
