Cant Connect Via Sprint Cell Phone

I have a Samsung N400 Cell Phone that I connect to my computer with a USB cable to get online. When I have it connected Limewire wont even start. Then if I start Limewire, then connect the phone, Limewire won't connect. Is this a common problem or just my luck. Thanks...

does limewire connect if you don't connect your cell?

in that case, the short answer is:

don't do the two at the same time.

the long answer is much more complicated and i don't have it. sorry

The cell phone is how I connect to the internet. So if I disconnect the phone, Limewire can't connect to the internet. I talked to somebody who said I should find out if it is a port problem. Since this phone is connected through USB does that change the port settings or anything?

and that wireless connection is fast enough for p2p filesharing? what kind of bandwidth does sprint offer?

whether limewire works or not depends on whether that sprint internet connection works on all ports (specifically, port 6346) or just a select few (like web and mail). in any case, i don't think it has anything to do whether you connect the phone through usb or not.

again, i don't know what kind of bandwidth sprint offers, but i would assume you are better off using limewire over a wire connection (cable, lan, whatever). especially considering airtime.

The port problem sounds right.

Why give a web enabled phone more ports than it needs? Sprint doesn't support LW, never would've thought so. They prolly just support basic stuff.

I went onto CNET.com and ran a bandwidth test on my sprint phone and it came back with 362 kbps. So I don't think that is the problem. As for the port, I'm not to sure. I will look into it. The reason I am using the phone instead of DSL or what not, is cost. It only costs $15 a month as opposed to $55 for DSL.

15 bucks a month for unlimited bandwidth and unlimited online time?

froms SPRINT? whoa. when i used to be with sprint, they sure priced their services differently.

yeah. the bandwidth is not a problem. sorry i can give so little help.

if you get the thing working, please post back here how you got it to work, so future users don't have to go through the steps again.

good luck!
