Help! can't connect

I am having trouble connecting... I have the newest version and I've restarted my computer many times, but it still will not connect. If someone could help me with this I would be so grateful.

What kind of operating system do you have? What kind of connection do you use? Any routers, proxies or firewalls you might need to configure?

There is always the possibility that your ISP or whatever blocks gnutella traffic.

I have windows xp, and I'm on a network... ethernet... I have no idea really what could be wrong, I don't believe that there is a firewall because my roomate can use hers fine

Windows XP comes with an integrated firewall, but I don't think that's the problem. If your ethernet connection is one that belongs to a college for example, I would assume that they are blocking gnutella traffic.

Is your roommate using LimeWire, BearShare or any other gnutella client? If not - my guess would be that Gnutella is blocked but it's really difficult to be sure.

In any case, if there is a problem on LimeWire's side, BearShare http://download.bearshare.com/BSTEST430b123.exe (test version without bundled software) should work. If BearShare doesn't work either your connection cannot be used for gnutella.
