too few connections i used to be a paying customer of limewire. but since control over the number of connections has been removed, the number of files found by a search is so small as to be almost useless. i can't find find the contemporary music i'm looking for (martina topley bird), or classics: even a search for beatles songs returned only 12 options. the statistics window right now shows a total of 300,000mb of files available (pretty typical). i'd like to start paying to support limewire again: how do i find enough songs to make it worthwhile? ian |
Can't offer anything useful with paragraphs 1 and 3; I thought people got pro to support development of a opensource file sharing tool or avoid the nagware--if they wanted fee stuff they should save bucks since the free works just as well. Learn something new every day. 2 shows a problem. "beatles" just returned 334 hits--the search is supposed to stop at 150 (any more just wastes bandwidth). "martina topley bird" returned 32. The searches changed to use fewer connections but better results in the newer versions, which is usually what I find. Did you try disconnecting then reconnecting to get a different set of connections? If you get poor results more and more often, check your set up or connection configuration. Lots of posts on what to look for and how to do that. Of course, it could all be coincidence because no one can predict when hosts sharing files will be up or who they accept. Cheers |
