Firewalls and Limewire... I am running the newest version of LW and am having serious difficulties connecting....I click connect from the file menu because it won't do it automatically and the connection indicator on the bottem left of the LW momentarily goes green then returns to the red/disconnected status and it's not connecting to any hosts. I am sharing 200-something files, I am using Brickhouse front-end firewall to edit my firewall setting but just to be sure I turned the firewall completely off....but when I go into System prefs it says other firewall software is running on my computer and to turn it off to edit my apple firewall settings. I don't know how to edit these settings or add ports in Brickhouse because I just started using it. I am on a college campus (UGA) but i know that they didn't ban p2p sharing because all my friends can use kazaa w/ no problem (they just limited the bandwidth - 1.3 kb/sec) sorry if I'm rambling. I am at a loss here...please help!!! oh yes i'm on system MacOS X 10.2.6 |
can't help you with the specifics of Brickhouse (after uninstalling, sounds like you should restart anyway), but the OSX firewall settings for gnutella are under the "new" button in the firewall pane of the sharing prefs. Perhaps someone who knows brickhouse can help. Cheers. If you find out how they limit your bandwidth, let us know |
