Question Don't want to be a leaf anymore

I am trying to become a ultrapeer but when i open the preferences, and see that the button for disabling ultrapeer is unchecked, and then click apply and ok, i am still a leaf. I have done this repeatedly and even gone as far as throwing away the preferences file and starting a new one but i am still a leaf. I am connected over a LAN and last week, i was an ultrapeer with no problems. Now, no ultrapeer. I am running version 3.4.7 for mac os x on an original powermac 867 quicksilver. If someone could help, it would be...ummm...helpful?

russ

P.S. I leave limewire on for long times and when i come back to my dorm, it has unexpectedly quit. Strange...

LimeWire calculates which nodes are best suited to be ultrapeers automatically. There are ways to circumvent this for developer purposes. What I'm not clear about is why you want to be an ultrapeer.

He wants to be an ultrapeer, most likely because he mistakenly believes (as many do) that this gives him better search results and/or better download speeds.
