Changing save locations

Hi All,

 I am trying to find out why LW will not let me switch my file save location to "My Music". Can anyone tell me why, or how to get around this?

Thanks

Could you please elaborate a bit? What do you mean by Limewire will not let you save to that location?

Did you go to the preferences and set the save directory as the one you want?

That's exactly what I was trying to do, change my default save location in Preferences. I hit the "Browse" button and go through the motions, then I get a message saying that the "My Music" folder is not acceptable.

Make sure that any of the folders that "My Music" is in do not have any weird characters in them (such as ~, etc.).

Worst case scenario, you might have to settle with it being a different folder.

Nope. No weird folder names or characters. Just "My Music" in the "My Documents" folder.

FYI, I'm running an Asus A7V333 RAID M/B w/512MB RAM, an Athlon 1900XP (1.6 GHz), and twin WD Caviar 80BG 7200 RPM Drives configured for RAID1 (mirroring), running under WindowsXP Pro.

Hmm...does your RAID setup have anything to do with it? I admit I don't know much about RAID, but perhaps that could affect it?

The RAID setup shouldn't have anything to do with it. There is a RAID controller on the motherboard which handles both drives, but the system only sees the controller as though it were the C: drive.

Uninstall and reinstall Limewire. Make sure during uninstallation that everything, all the preferences, everything with Lime in it, is thrown away.

Hi,

I don't have a Windows XP machine to mess around with right now, but can you try the following for me... Install the newest version of the Java Runtime Environment from sun, you can find a link at www.limewire.com. The latest version is 1.4.2. Also install the latest version of LimeWire and confirm that you still cannot select the My Music directory. Make sure you're choosing it via the whole path and not a shortcut.

Thanks

Avi
