Can't Connect

Well I have come across an interesting thing. I recently updated to 3.5.8 from 2.8.6 and now I can't connect to anything at anytime, so I reinstalled 2.8.6 and everything works fine.
Please explain this one.

i'm having the same problem

Previous versions worked. but the past two versions I have not been able to connect and unfortuantely I deleted the older setup versions. help!
