I'm so sad... No connection for me on this day.

That's right. I just downloaded the latest[?] version of LimeWire. I am running it on Windows 95. I know my internet people allow file sharing, because I had Kazaa up and running before my computer crashed, but since my compy did crash, I no longer have Internet Explorer 5, which is necessary for Kazaa to run, and it is "obsolete" according to Microsoft, so I can't download it again.

So I download LimeWire, and it all works fine, just great, but then it's not connected when I start. So I click connect, and I get connected for about 2 seconds, and then get kicked off again. I went into the advanced options and tried activating the "force IP" option, I read somewhere around here that that's supposed to help. But all that did was make the time I stayed connected from 2 seconds to about a half a second. I don't have a firewall that I know of, so I don't know what the problem could be. Help please?

When you go to file>connect you are telling LW to try to force a connection to the Gnutella Network. This will almost never work. You have to wait for LW to connect by itself. if LW wil not connect by itself you can try to restart your computer or try to restart LW.

Kazaa uses different ports to connect. If waiting doesn't work, another trick you can try is to share more files (but see http://www.eff.com/IP/P2P/howto-notgetsued.php ), or try to enter some of the IP's that work for a friend to try to get accepted by the network.

My guess is that your connection is not configured to be used with LimeWire. Are you connected to the internet via LAN?

deepblue: Just how long am I supposed to wait?

tj4: I don't use a LAN, I am using a 56k modem and a local service provider called MV Communications, who I am very dissatisfied with right now because they screwed up my email so it doesn't work right now.

You need to look under the connections tab and when there are no more connection attempts that is when you know that it will not connect.
