Can't launch Limewire
 

I am using limewire under Mac OSX and it's been working properly until 3 days ago when I started getting the following message;" the main class "com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main" could not be loaded".
Strangely, I could open limewire from the original "LimewireOSX.dmg" folder I downloaded from Limewire, so I deleted the existing application and reinstalled it, but still got the same message. I then downloaded the latest version 3.6.15 and installed it, but again kept getting the same message.
The only way I can open Limewire is to launch the previous version "LimewireOSX.dmg" file and open it directly from there without installing it in my application folder.
I hope I wasn't too confusing. Any help will be welcome.

After the installer completes, do not close it... instead go to Files -> Show Log and copy what it says. If you could also open the Console (Applications -> Utilities -> Console) and record what it says during installation and when trying to open LimeWire, that'd be useful. Paste back here with the info and we can try and figure out what's happening.

3) I opened limewire from the limewire icon inside the new limewire folder still on the desktop and it opened ok.

4) i closed Limewire, deleted the old limewire folder in my application folder and move the new limewire folder from the desktop to the application folder. I again tried to open limewire and got the message.

It doesn't look like anything went wrong with the installation, and the Console logs aren't too informing ...

Is there any particular reason you haven't upgraded to 10.2.8? I highly recommend upgrading -- many bugs have been fixed, and a newer version of Java (which is the platform that LimeWire runs on) is available on 10.2.6 and above.

Thanks again for your help. I didn't upgrade simply because I did not know about it, so I tried to upgrade this morning to 10.2.6 (according to the Apple site, I can't upgrade from 10.2.5 to 10.2.8, I first have to install 10.2.6), but when I the upgrade began, after I agreed to the terms, I got a message saying that the upgrade couldn't install "because the Hard Disk doesn't meet the requirements". I am using a 6 month old 12" G4 powerbook and I have over 12 Gigs free space available. I never made any modifications to HD or the hardware and as far as softwares installed, I have appleworks 6, office, quicken, Virtual PC6 which I use to open autocad files and MS project , Mozilla, Limewire, Drumbeat (OS9), VLC, Media Player, and a few games.

you can download the standalone Combo updater that includes all the steps at once (97MB!). It's well worth keeping around since it can take a few tries to successfully download.

I was trying to install the 10.6 upgrade to then install 10.8, but apparently I can't even install 10.6 from 10.3, so I should have first install 10.5.
The combo will let me install directly from 10.3, so thanks for the help. I could not find a link for a 10.5 upgrade and I am saving 2 extra steps.

OK, back to square one:
I am now running OS 10.2.8 and still getting the same message: "The main class "com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main" could not be found." when I launch Limewire.
