I cant get LW to connect

I have Windows XP profesional and I just downloaded limewire and cant get it to connect. I have tried deleting my user settings and taking of auto connect and it still will not connect. The little red light turns green for a second and then it goes back to red. When I go to the connections screen I see it finding a bunch of host and trying to connect but it wont connect to any of them and then they start to dissapear until they are almost all gone and then it fills up with more host and does it again. Please please help me before I rip my hair out.

Are you using a modem at 56k or below, or are you using a high speed connection (DSL, Cable, or T1)?

unable to connect and just purchased PRO!!

I was using Limewire basic... and it worked so well... I upgraded to the purchase of PRO a week or so ago.... and have not been able to connect. I have tried all the suggestions written in these forums and nothing works. I am running XP Home... I thought PRO would be better... Iam really feeling let down.... can ANYONE out there fix this..or even another suggestion would help.

As a PRO user you should contact the developers via mail (you paid for the support):

I am running on a 56K modem

Amanshoe January 7th, 2004 06:36 AM

I have the same problem with my computer running on a 56k modem. The high speed/bandwith conection runs fine. The computer with the 56k modem will not search (the light turns red but the downloads keep downloading) if I have two or more downloads going at once. Sounds like a bug. I do all my searches first, then start the downloads. I hope they figure this out and fix it.

Sounds like your connection is saturated and you cannot connect to any ultrapeers because you are responding to slow.

Did change your connection speed under tools->options->speed to modem. Are there any uploads going on?

Connection

I am having problems connecting through my home connection which is a 56k modem. I have installed LW whilst at work (fast connection). Whist in the office everything is working fine but when I try to use LW at home I cannot connect. I have set the connection speed to modem but am getting no joy!
When I try to connect to light turns green for half a second and then turn back to red.
I have seen many of the other postings on the forum and I have tried many of the proposed different fixes but none seem to work for me. I am running XP Pro.

Any ideas??? Please please please don't force me back in to the dirty world of Kazaa - Please!

blankrider January 8th, 2004 01:29 PM

I have already set my modem speed to 56K and still nothing happens. I dont have any uploads and I cant seach for anything to download because the red light only turns green for half a second

(LimeWire Pro) = (LimeWire Basic) + (a few other constants)
There is usually no bug in basic that is not also part of LimeWire Pro.

Did you check your firewall settings. Some firewalls disallow all outgoing connections of non-trusted programs by default.

blankrider January 8th, 2004 02:07 PM

Ive already checked and I didnt find any firewalls up. If you know how I might go about finding them and disableing them please let me know. Im running on windows XP Pro

connection problems

I have had problems to connect LW since I´ve got it. I tried all advices published. No progress. The darn spot turned red after a second or two and I got message that there was no internet connection (but there was). In the end i restarted the cable modem, the router and the switch - and was connected (???). I run a G€ with MacOs X Panther. Hope this info will savesomeone more from heartbreaking frustration.

Frustration!

I have been a LimeWire member for a bit over a month. The first two weeks I couldn't get it to work, then I found the helpful thing about deleting the folder in documents and settings. It worked for one week after that and never since. I am using XP home and have no forewalls up. Please help! it is frustrating paying for a service (although it's cheap) and not getting any use out of it!
