that doesnt work either. the same thing happens |
Did you ever try killing all unnecessary processes in the task manager (e.g. firewalls, anything produced by Norton, other applications accessing the network)? Maybe there is some incompatibility with some other software you are running. Last but not least, you may check whether or not you have a direct internet connection... Some proxies / routers cannot be used with LimeWire because they are configured not to allow outgoing connections to high ports (>1024). |
One other thing: Why would you buy the PRO version if BASIC doesn't even connect??? |
i bought it because i thought it would cure my problem. i did exit all but necessary processes, and same problem. how do i find out if my isp or router is incompatible? it seems like ALOT of people are having similar problems, isnt it illegal to sell something that doesnt work? im not pointing fingers just yet tho. |
It's not illegal because it works on most systems, yours happens to be one of the few exceptions obviously. I've been running LimeWire for years and never had any connection problems which makes it the harder to tell why some people cannot connect. |

Did you try turning off XP's firewall in the control panel? Usually it shouldn't interfere with LimeWire connecting to the network but you never know... The easiest way to find out if there is a hardware related issue is to download and install another p2p application (like bearshare, shareaza or whatever you prefer) and run it. If it works it's definitely LimeWire's fault. This thread may be of some help if you want to configure your router: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=23369 |
