if someone could please walk me though getting the damn thing to connect i would be greatful. it turns green but then goes red.

What is your OS, are you useing a firewall, are you on a network, does your ISP block file shareing, what version of Limewire are you useing. More information would be useful.

I am using windows xp, and i don't know if i am using a firewall, and i don't know if my isp is blocking. first time downloading music.

I just named all those things because you have to understand that there are a lot of vairables and a lot of things that can keep you from connecting. You have to find that kind of thing out though. Find out if you are firewalled, call your ISP to find out if it blockes Gnutella or file shareing. And what's your version of LW?
