Can't connect I have downloaded the new version of Limewire. When I click connect, it gives me a message that it can not detect an internet connection or that I am behind a firewall. I have a cable modem w/a router that is always running. I have checked my firewall and performed the instructions stated on the Home page of limewire on how to configure it to open the port. I am able to connect to other programs like this, but just not Limewire. I am running WIN XP. The only firewall that I am aware my computer is under is the Internet Connection firewall in WINXP. I have Norton Anti-virus software, but could not find any firewalls associated with it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! |
stkjonsey I would try turning off the XP firewall just to see if that works. I had some issues with it myself. The other thing worth a shot if you are running Netscape or IE would be to turn Java off in your browser. Go to control panel, double click the Java icon, click on the browser tab and uncheck IE and Netscape. It that works you can run another version of Java in your browsers. Good Luck, Norm |
thanks for the suggestions but nothing worked. I couldn't find the Java thing you were talking about in my control panel, I only had a P2P icon-no java. Anyother suggestions?!!! |
