![]() I have just installed Limewire Basic 4.8.1 I can't connect at all. I have tried deleting Preference folder, disabling firewalls. Going here http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ gives me 504 Gateway Timeout My specs 1. Win XP SP1 2. Zonealarm (disabling it makes no difference) 3. 768MB RAM, 60GB HDD free 5. T1/LAN 6. Using a Realtek RTL8139, with SMC7004ABR Router 7. Home My browser uses "Automatic Configruation Script" I tried typing that proxy into Limewire (HTTP) and when I try to connect, it gives "Your machine does not appear to have an active Internet connection or a firewall is blocking etc..." If I don't use the proxy, the same error comes out, except that it will remain in "Connecting" mode for about 30seconds then give that error instead of giving the error immediately. Can hanyone help me please? ![]() |

![]() Cox is infamous for blocking, if they are your providor, then using a proxy server is your only option. Seach the web to see how to do this. My folks, have Cox, and I never could get theirs to work. Lime Wire usually just works, unless your ISP is blocking it.. |

![]() I see that many people cant connect to limewire, now you can put me in that list. I have dowloaded files from limewire before but suddenly, 2 days ago, i couldnt connect to gnutella. I have northon internet security, and belive me, the northon firewall is off ( it has always been off, so why should it suddenly turn itself on, anyway, i had dobbel checked that it is OFF) I use Windows Xp pro, and the built in firewall is also off, i have never used it, and i have dobbel checked that also is off. Here is the strange part, i cant even connect with Bittorrent (!), i use bittorrent 4.0.2 (i know bittorrent isnt the subject here, but would like to hear how many people that cant connect to limewire that also cant connect to bittorrent). Tryed bearshare too.. that doesnt work either ( i know its also gnutella but worth a try). All other internet activity works fine, my IE dowloads web sites well, and i can also download files with IE, i can also play games online. Its so strange that Bittorrent and limewire should all of the sudden stop connecting. I have read many post on this threads, and tryed every solution . Remove /.limewire directory, turned off connect-at-start-up and amnually connected, re-installed limewire. I know this maybe sounds like a ISP block, my ISP is Telenor (norway), but i know people that use telenor as ISP and they can connect to gnutella and downlaod torrent files. I have also used Ad-aware and Spybot S&D to clean my system Please come with more tips to solve this problem. I see myself with moderate computer skill. |

![]() I have tried the purge and it didnt work. It just put some files on my desktop that couldnt be opened or read because it says I dont have the right program. I also tried all of your other suggestions and non have worked. I have the latest version of limewire and java installed and my os is XP. Please help, My connection used to work and then I moved, hooked it up to a satellite, where it worked for 2 days and now doesnt work at all. I have e-mailed limewire tech support and havent heard a reply and its been about a week!! Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance, Mike Pedersen Last edited by Lord of the Rings; July 4th, 2005 at 08:46 PM. |
