![]() Thank for coming back to me. I am running the Windows XP. The fire wall just says "windows firewall". This is located in the Control Panel but unfortunately I can't find a property button to know more about it. My connection is a LAN. Yes, i manage to start it up. It starts up but can't connect. I can see from the Connection tab in LW - the connections dropping... on average i see 9 connections being made. it just says "connecting" Thanks Megido1 |

![]() Like a lot of others, LW was running great til I downloaded 4.9.29. Now I can't connect. I have a laptop that connects fine with version 4.9.28. I just noticed an upgrade to 4.9.30....I thought this would be the miracle fix....gee....it's not...what a surprise. I've tried everything on these forums to fix it. Anyone know of another program to use? |

![]() That's exactly what I want to know...Limewire has been the best one by far that I have used, but now I feel like it is the worst...no help to get the thing working...there is just a minor error, but I can't find it...another pc works fine with it on the same router. What is the problem! |

![]() There is a problem on Windows XP (at least with my copy For a while I was having an issue connecting to certain online resources but never had any trouble browsing or using most internet based programs. Certain programs would not work properly which included all Gnutella network programs including Limewire, bittorrent, streaming QuickTime audio In LimeWire, when the problem is present, LimeWire reports that it has detected a firewall One workaround that sometimes works is to unplug my Ethernet internet connection before Windows boots I don't know what the cause of the problem is yet, but I have some theories. I am not willing to rule out my firewall (ZA Security Suite), but in my tests, it does not seem to be the problem because even after being turned off completely the problems with LimeWire et al. are still present. Also, when the problem is present, ZoneAlarm does not report that LimeWire is even attempting to connect to the internet, but when the problem is corrected ZoneAlarm reports allowing LimeWire to connect. Because using the WinSockXPFix program seems to correct the issues, I suspect some piece of software is corrupting my WinSock or uses a defective LSP. I would interested to know if anyone has had similar symptoms, if anyone knows what the cause of the problems may be, Acer Ferrari 4000 Notebook > AMD Turion 64 2.0 GHz > 1 GB RAM > Windows XP Pro SP2 > Windows Firewall Off > Zone Alarm Security Suite installed > At time of post using LimeWire > Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet card |
