Hi, I'm having the same problem with lw. On the bottom left corner, the little bars are all red except for the first one. And every time I want to search a song, a box pops up that says LIMEWIRE IS CURRENTLY CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK. I have tried everything. Please please help! |

chyeaa Thanxx for the help, but I got it fixed myself. It was just a problem with my internet :) |

the purge worked...but when i open limewire it opens on the screen for a second then VANISHES!?! can anyone help??? |
after HOURS of troubleshooting and doing EVERYTHING i read in the millions of posts...here's what i did to FINALLY get my TURBO-CHARGED connection: exit limewire (tray, too), deleted as much of the .limewire directory as the system would allow, then start limewire. THAT'S IT! |
Limewire preference folder Brick wall in front of globe with a #4 next to it. Please tell me the steps to delete preference folder. I don't know if this was correct. I went to start>search, typed in limewire. I did not not see 'preference folder'. Also before this I closed out limewire completely, and I also ''showed' all hidden files'. I still don't know what I'm looking for. I read somewhere if you type a path it will appear somewhere. Where do you go to do that? Thanks for any input you have. Nova:notsure: |
Please read the following & click on the 'fixes for LW' link: Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. The folder isn't called 'preferences'...it's called .limewire, or LimeWire (depending on which location it's in). |
I honestly don't think any of these fixes help. I was trying some of these "fixes" on my laptop and it totally destroyed my laptop. It won't even boot up anymore. I think that Limewire needs to fix their program. I had limewire for years and never had a problem until this year. Now I can't connect (other than the one green bar like everyone else). I didn't change anything. One computer I tried it on had no Nortons and my windows firewall wasn't even on. I don't think it has anything to do with that. I hope that Limewire will be fixed someday. I really liked it. But for now I would suggest people do what I'm doing if you want to get music...just buy an itunes card and pay .99 cents for the song, because obviously Limewire "fixes" aren't helping much. I'm not trying to be a mean person I'm just trying to say be careful while trying to fix the computer and that I honestly think that something else is going on with Limewire. I just can't see all these people losing connection for no reason. |
