 Salut murasame, on a multi thread os like os x or windows xp, a program can stall or crash, but this shouldn't crash the PC or mac. Especially since LW does not install weird drivers for hardware and is runned by a java run time (java crashes before xp or os x). Now reasons for drivers crashes are numerous (especially when they come not supported by microsoft or apple). Hardware too: bad ram, pc becoming too hot, hardware conflict, etc.
