Angry What is going on here??!

I thought "upgrading" to the "Pro" version would help...I was VERY wrong.

Every single time without fail I connect, start downloading files, within a minute or so my entire computer locks up, and I loose my internet connection. Why is this consistently happening?? As I said I upgraded to “Pro” because this was happening with the “free” version. Anyone else have this problem? What have you done to fix it?

Thanks for the help.
c.

Please supply specifics about your computer, platform, OS, configuration, net connections & other such details. After that, somebody will most likely be able to suggest a possible solution. At present, we don't know anything other than you have a problem. Off hand I'd suggest it might have something to do with Java version, software clash, etc. it could be a no. of things.

If it happens with both versions then it's definitely not a LW problem. What have 'you' done to fix it? (joke) Make sure you have the most recent version of Java for your OS (since you haven't told us what you have I can't tell you which version it should be.) As stupididiot69er suggested, it could be a Firewall issue. It could be an AOL9 issue. We can help if you tell us what you have other than 'I can't connect, fix it.' It could be due to a wide range of issues that's blocking LW. Freezing to me sounds like a Java issue.

If you have a firewall they do that if you set them to autimaticaly lock when they think your computer is in danger. The way to get there is different for each of them so plz mention which one you've got.

Cool CPU hanging when using LimeWire

If you are still having problems with LW Pro I suggest you try updating your JAVA drivers. I had exactly the same problem with MORPHEUS. I thought it was all the PU Ads. Since there is absolutely NO SUPPORT whatsoever for Morpheus other than continual redirection to a very lean FAQ page or chatrooms I decided to gamble on Morph PRO. I got rid of the ads but the CPU bogged down when I tried to DL more than 2-3 files regardless of size and speed. Even with Morph Pro there is NO SUPPORT. I have used SoulSeek for awhile but the DL speeds are incredible slow because the UL addresses usually set their UL to something rediculously low and you have to im them to boost. I heard about LW and decided to give it a try. I have had no problems at all with the free version but I noticed that I had to update the JAVA drivers when I installed the package. I run on XP and found out that XP Pro doesn't support JAVA directly--You have to DL and install it yourself. They don't mention that until you can't open any sites / apps / etc. that require JAVA Applet capabilities. I guess this is all a long-winded way of saying that you probably need to update your drivers more often.
