windows update ruined limewire
 

yesterday, i finally gave in to the pop up reminders that i need to install a critical windows update. unfortunately, ever since then my limewire will not connect. it installed a firewall, so i did what it said on the limewire support page about getting around the XP firewall. i followed all the steps, but it still wouldnt connect, and i'd get the error message that i must be behind a firewall. so then i turned off the firewall, but it still won't connect. Does anyone know what i can do?

Make sure u have the latest Java for xp & uninstall LW & then reinstall it. If that doesn't work, try out the beta (v.4.1.4) Hope this helps.

thanks. where can i get the latest java? i'm looking on the microsoft website but i'm having trouble finding it.

EDIT: alright, i got the new java and LimeWire is working great! :D

go to http://www.java.com/ and click on downloads at the top right and fallow the links from there. I can't give you any more info cause it keeps telling me I have the latest version and it blocks me
