Oh pklease help I downloaded the free version of limewire today and this wouldn't connect, so being a silly I then bought the limewire pro (thinking that the problem was with the free download) Well I believe that I have installed everything okay (I have done the firewall thing and put in the IP address as told) but when I double click on the desktop icon limewire opens then if I'm very lucky it will stay open but will not connect. However, it usually just closes again. Is is having a lazy day today? I would have thought so initially until I had a look on this forum and found that I am not alone. At least I am not alone in this world with not being able to get limewire to connect but I really really really would like some help. I am not very computer literate so please basic language only!

Thanks

Java. Most probably.

Go here. Find Java in your computer, delete it and download it from the site, install it and try LW again.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I have done what you said and now Limewire won't even start at all. I have removed Limewire and downloaded again and it still won't start. I am at a complete loss with what to do. Any ideas gratefully received.

cheers
Cath

Hi again

Have just tried to load Java and I get an error file with the following information:-

An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) occurred at PC=0x3519558
Function=[Unknown.]
Library=C:\WINDOWS\System32\YPCLSP.dll

NOTE: We are unable to locate the function name symbol for the error
just occurred. Please refer to release documentation for possible
reason and solutions.

Does this have anything to do with my problem with Limewire?

Cath

Wow. Probably the Java you dlded was corrupt itself so do it all over again. And if you want to uninstall/reinstall LW, then make sure you delete its preferences too, k?

Hi

Thanks for still replying, however I think I have found out what the problem is. Apparently, it is something to do with the Yahoo parental controls. I am now just waiting for Yahoo to contact me with the fix. So fingers crossed it should work after this.

Thanks
Cath

Just thought I'd finish this thread. I disabled all parental controls on my accounts and low and behold Limewire works beautifully. I am still waiting for Yahoo to give me a proper fix but I'm not in any rush as far as I'm concerned the computer ain't for the kids!!!!!

Cath:) :)
