MacOSX Connection??

I have LimeWire Pro. It worked fine at home, but not now in the dorms. I have been scouring the Gnutella Forums and have done every fix I could find, including
deleting the preferences from my library, disabling autoconnect and connect
on launch, I have set my firewall settings to allow the Gnutella port._ When
I start the program, it says "connecting" at the bottom left and one green
bar lights up and slowly counts the number of files I am sharing. Then it
says "disconnected" but when I click on connect from the drop-down menu, it
flashes "connect" then goes back to "disconnect"
The only thing left that I can think of is my school is blocking it somehow. How do I find out without asking the IT department? What can I do to make
it work? PLEASE HELP!

hey try it with kazaa if it works get the name of the port kazaa uses and use it for limewire you can find this by following these instructions.
1. open kazaa
2. go in tools, options, firewall, and at the bottom it says use port: and that's the port you need to use

3. go to options, go in advanced, than port and type in the port kazaa uses.

I don't have Kazaa. The port number in LimeWire matches the one in my Firewall list.

When trying to connect in dorms, it is best to know if there is a Firewall set. If you don't want to ask the IT dep, ask others in the dorms. Surely one of them must be trying to connect to or has already tried it previously.

good thinking murasame maybe one of them knows and the thing is still under covers

Actually I read that other people just go and ask people from the IT dep or engineer people that have something to do with internet and comps and stuff. But it is probably safer to ask other students first.

yeh should be safer, i only know one guy that doesn't care about that most other people are pretty strict about that. but it always depends where you live
