Connecting Difficulties I recently downloaded LimeWire while at school, and they have a firewall blocking Gnutella ports. I have already spoken to the university's internet specialist, and he informed me that there would be no way to connect through the Gnutella port without opening to various other illegal shareware programs. I was wondering if there were any other ports which LimeWire can use in replace of Gnutella, and if not, why not? So many college kids are looking for good software that will allow them to download music, and I'm sure many universities, such as my own, are blocking the Gnutella port due to legal issues. Why not offer an alternate port? |
the universities block p2p and illegal ports cause they don't wan't to get sued like others before them. if you want you can try these ports (go to the link there are so many) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showt...;threadid=24523 if this doesn't work drop a line at new feature requests there's usually a programmer that passes by there once in a while. |
