Can't connect - Web-only proxy? I've just installed Limewire on my Mac (running OS 9.2.2) but I can''t connect – the 'Connect' option is greyed out. I think this is because i have a Web-only proxy (whatever this is!). Is there any way around this? Or if not, are there any other file-sharing clients that will work with a Web-only proxy? |
You could try using your web-only proxy for LimeWire. Go to the LimeWire preferences->advanced->proxy and enter the address for your proxy. |
The 'Connect' option is now available, but when I click it, I see the list of connections flash up for half a millisecond before they disappear and the status says 'Disconnected' again. Is this a firewall problem? |
do you have the latest java? |
There is no "latest" java for MacOS9, - that's why future LimeWire versions won't be available for OS9. |
oh srr I missed the part about bec having a mac |
I guess this means I'm out of luck and won't be able to use Limewire, unless anyone else has any ideas? |
which firewall do you have |
OK, after following the advice above and reading a few other posts in this forum, I have eventually managed to connect - thanks for the advice! |
